Please look over our rules and FAQ before posting. but I think it has a more advanced version of EDuke in there./r/Games is for informative and interesting gaming content and discussions. I did enjoy some gruntmatch levels with bots though, a lot of multiplayer maps actually look very decent/nice and varied. neither the grenade launcher nor the sniper rifle act in any way resembling what they are supposed to be because they're based off Duke's Shrinker and Expander, and the same goes for the flamethrower. Some of the weapons are bad edits of Duke's arsenal, e.g. But the overall quality is not that of a commercial game, it's still a glorified TC at its core. Still, it experimented with some novel features like allied NPCs that you can kinda-sorta order around.
Some of the art actually looks worse than its Platoon counterparts, at least to me, and difficulty is cranked up quite a bit. The levels are very playable (it's rather short with just seven levels replacing the first episode) and it certainly has its own identity that is different from vanilla Duke. It was not at all bad actually, for a TC at least. I actually played the original Platoon TC that was the basis for NAM, and the Tour of Duty III add-on.
NAM is just a lame Duke TC that got turned into a full game, but it still feels like a lame Duke TC with poor gameplay and mediocre level design. It assimilated all of the WWII GI enhancements (gamevars, weapon controls, and events) and implemented new features as well, such as access to player and actor properties.
Dubbed EDuke, the project would continue the Duke3D version numbering with 2.0.ĮDuke 2.0 was developed over several months with the aid of a testing team selected from the Duke3D mod community. After some discussion (and not entirely without shameless begging), the 3DR brass relented and allowed the project to work with Duke3D itself. Saettler was the lead programmer on the project, and had also worked on the prior Build games Blood and NAM.
In response, Matthew "Matteus" Saettler proposed to expand upon the CON language of WWII GI, a Build Engine game based on the Duke Nukem 3D source code and similar to Duke Nukem 3D in most respects. Many of the Duke Nukem 3D modding community's veterans were disappointed with 3D Realms' lack of interest in releasing the source code to the game, and the existing CON language was very limited in scope. EDuke is the original DOS Duke Nukem 3D modding enhancement project first released in July of 2000.
